Repair before replace

The technical service provided by Carlos Palomino is aimed at extending the useful life of the Schaudt Elektroblock through component-level repair, rather than replacing the whole unit with a new one. This policy directly contributes to the reduction of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in line with circular economy principles and the waste hierarchy established by Spanish Royal Decree 110/2015 (transposing EU Directive 2012/19/EU).

What waste is generated during repair

During the repair of an Elektroblock, small amounts of waste are generated, classifiable as WEEE or as complementary waste:

  • Replaced electronic components (relays, rectifiers, capacitors, transistors).
  • Wire and tin residue from soldering operations.
  • Sponges, rags and paper contaminated with soldering flux.
  • Occasionally, damaged housings or connectors that cannot be repaired.

Where this waste goes

Waste generated in the workshop is handled under current regulations:

  • Replaced electronic components and irreparable Elektroblock units are delivered to a municipal Punto Limpio (civic amenity site) in the Community of Madrid for correct WEEE collection.
  • Tin and soldering residue is collected in specific containers and handed over to an authorised hazardous-waste manager.
  • Non-hazardous waste is separated into paper, plastic and metal for recycling through ordinary municipal channels.

How you can help as a customer

If your Elektroblock cannot be repaired and you decide to replace it, you can leave it at the workshop free of charge so that it is handled as WEEE through the channel above. You can also take it yourself to the nearest civic amenity site, or hand it to your motorhome dealer if they sell you a new one (dealers are required to accept the old unit under the "one-for-one" principle).

Regulatory framework

  • Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and Council on waste electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Spanish Royal Decree 110/2015 of 20 February on waste electrical and electronic equipment (transposition into Spanish law).
  • Spanish Law 7/2022 of 8 April on waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy.
