The technician

Carlos Palomino. Electronics technician.

I'm an independent electronics technician. I live and work from El Boalo (Madrid), an hour from the M-30. I repair Schaudt Elektroblock units for customers across Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Germany and the UK who send the unit by courier.

The Schaudt Elektroblock is the most complex electrical control unit fitted in a European motorhome. Auxiliary battery charging faults, 230 V mains faults, coupling relay, internal charger —all of them can be fixed at component level, without replacing the whole board and without throwing a €500 unit in the bin.

This is my difference from the official manufacturer service and from parts shops: instead of charging €500 for a new Elektroblock or €150 for a swap without diagnosis, I identify the component that has failed and replace it. Price from €80 and a total of 3-5 days.

How I work

Component-level repair, not board replacement.

When an Elektroblock arrives at the workshop, the first thing I do is bench-test it under real load: 12 V, 230 V mains, alternator D+ signal, absorption fridge channel, coupling relay between starter and auxiliary battery. This takes 2-3 hours and tells me exactly what's failing.

Then I open the unit and repair it at component level: if it's the 897-1AH-C1 70 A coupling relay, I desolder it and fit a new one. If it's the KBPC25 rectifier, same thing. If it's the bank of electrolytic capacitors bulged from ageing, I swap all four at once even if only one is visibly damaged.

Before closing the unit, I run it 24 hours under real loadwith the lab power supply and electronic load, to verify the repair holds up under continuous operating conditions. That's why I can offer 3 months warrantyon the repaired fault.

For orders I work on fixed-price quotes: free diagnosis, a call or message with the identified fault and the final price, and I only start the repair if you approve it. If you don't want to go ahead, I send the unit back and you only pay the return shipping.

Equipment

The workshop test bench.

It makes no sense to repair power electronics without the minimum gear to properly diagnose it. This is what I use on every repair.

  • Eakins microscope

    EQ/01

SMD work at trace level, fine soldering and stereoscopic magnification for 0603 components and up.

  • Vici VC99 and Fluke multimeters

    EQ/02

Voltage, current, resistance, continuity and diode measurements with enough precision for power diagnostics.

  • Adjustable lab power supply

    EQ/03

Variable 12 V mains simulation to test the Elektroblock under load before and after repair.

  • Electronic load

    EQ/04

To check the internal charger's behaviour under real current, not just open-circuit.

  • Digital oscilloscope

    EQ/05

To analyse the PWM waveform of the regulator and detect subtle faults in the power stage.

  • Temperature-controlled soldering station

    EQ/06

To desolder relays and rectifiers without damaging the PCB solder mask.

Transparency

What I'm not, to avoid misunderstandings.

I'm not an authorised Schaudt GmbH distributor, nor a dealer, nor an authorised manufacturer service centre. I'm an independent technician repairing the unit outside the official channel.

I'm not a motorhome workshop, nor a mechanic, nor an installer. I don't remove the Elektroblock from the vehicle, nor do I refit it. I only work on the unit that arrives at the workshop.

I don't do on-site repairs. All work is done on the workshop test bench in El Boalo. If you live nearby and prefer to drop it off in person, we can arrange that over WhatsApp.

I don't sell spare parts or new Elektroblock units. If your unit cannot be repaired (very rare, but it happens), I'll point you to where to buy a new or warrantied second-hand one.
